Hewlett-Packard against the Swiss customs authorities

On October 2, 2012, the Swiss Federal Administrative Tribunal, Switzerland's highest court in customs tariff matters, upheld a substantial claim brought by Hewlett-Packard against the Swiss customs authorities over duties levied on LCD flat panel displays. The Tribunal followed HP's argument that these displays are primarily used within data processing systems, and must therefore be exempt from customs duties. All customs duties that had been levied on the importation of HP displays from February to December 2011 must now be repaid to HP.

Hewlett-Packard was advised by Froriep's partner Boris Wenger, Alessandro Celli and associate David Vasella.
