Prof. Dr. Dr. Peter Sester
Prof. Dr. Dr. Peter Sester heads the Lemann Chair of International Business Law and Law & Economics, and Director of the Institute of Public Finance, Fiscal Law and Law & Economics at the University of St. Gallen (Switzerland). He was previously Director of the Institute for Law and Finance at Goethe University Frankfurt am Main.
He has been a counsel to Froriep since 1 January 2016. Previously, he was a consultant for 13 years in the Finance Practice Group at Freshfields in Frankfurt. He is an expert in international and European financial market law, as well as legal and organisational issues related to family offices (structuring, succession planning, family and corporate governance, and conflict resolution). One of the primary focuses of his consulting and research work is the impact of European financial market law on third countries, in particular on Switzerland, as well as cross-border organisational issues related to family offices. He is also increasingly involved in the field of commercial arbitration (in particular, in disputes with a link to Brazil). In addition to his professional work, he is also well known in these fields through numerous publications, lectures and training events.
As a qualified jurist and economist, he focuses particularly on structuring topics and products that fall between law and economics. Furthermore, he is a proven specialist on Brazil, with numerous publications, lectures and consulting mandates to his name.
In addition to his native German, Peter Sester also speaks English, Portuguese and French, and understands and reads Spanish.
