CAS Upheld Rhythmic Gymnastics Judges' Appeal

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has annulled the sanctions imposed by the International Federation of Gymnastics (FIG) on six Members of its Rhythmic Gymnastics Technical Committee for alleged irregularities at the 2012 Intercontinental Judges' Course, at which the highest ranking international judges had to confirm their brevets for the current Olympic cycle.

The case, which was covered by the media as "Rhythmic Gymnastics Judges Scandal", had started in December 2012 with the opening of disciplinary proceedings against the members of the Technical Committee and 56 participating judges. FRORIEP's Lucien Valloni and Daniel Bloch were representing the two most senior TC members, Maria Gigova and Natalya Kuzmina, in the appeal proceedings before the CAS.
