Laurent Develle's practice focuses on corporate law and M&A related aspects (competition law, commercial contracts, employment and environmental law, shareholders disputes, securities law and corporate finance).
Prior to joining Froriep, Laurent Develle worked for several years as a partner of a major US law firm and then as the Group General Counsel, Compliance and Sustainability Officer and member of the Executive Committees of several multinational companies. As Compliance Officer, he worked on a broad range of highly sensitive compliance, cartels, investigations and crisis situations, implementing numerous corporate compliance and risk management programs.
He has gained expertise working on transactions in the regions of Africa, Middle-East and other emerging countries and has also worked in Japan and Asia for over ten years.
Laurent Develle is also active in advising clients in relation to sustainable development projects. He is an appointed expert at the World Council of Environmental Law of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (Switzerland), a member of the Advisory Council of SeaAhead (Boston, USA), a Strategy Advisor for Blue Ocean Watch (Monaco) and a member of the Paris-based "Club des Avocats Environnementalistes ("CDAE"). He is also part of the Association of International Business Lawyers (AIBL), the France-Swiss Chamber of Commerce and the Swiss-Japan Chamber of Commerce. He is also a certified Director at the Swiss Institute for Directors (ACAD). Laurent Develle chairs the Switzerland Chapter of the NY-based Explorers Club. He is also a member of the Geneva Bar Association and the Swiss Bar Association.
Laurent Develle holds a Master of Business Law from Paris V Law University and graduated from the Institute of Political Studies of Paris and from Harvard Business School. He was admitted to the Paris Bar as French qualified Avocat à la Cour in 1993 and is registered as a French lawyer at the Geneva Bar.
His working languages are French and English and he speaks conversational Japanese.
